Product Overview

System Profile

Our system has two antennas to transmit and receive a microwave pulse through a sample, embodied in our sensor wand. The received signal is sent to a Vector Network Analyzer to measure the characteristic changes and send it to the computer, embodied in our system console. With the computer, we rebuild an image of the sample from the changed characteristics of the pulses. We display the image to the user, enhanced with color contrast, to highlight suspected regions of fractures, as embodied in the display. Additionally, data-driven optimization yields an increase in effective accuracy over the growth of Ossible’s user base.

Proof of Concept

Our current prototype, the Ossible Mk.0 is a fixture designed to test our chosen parameters and our algorithms' performance using relatively inexpensive, robust materials. While not currently in a portable configuration, further research to design our own vector network analyzer board, fit smaller antennas, and utilize a tablet computer in the console (unlike plugging into a laptop for Mk.0) are planned for later stages prior to filing for a utility patent.

The current device includes components from partners around the world, with a tablet data acquisition unit manufactured by a US company, antenna manufacturer from the UK and vector network analyzer manufacturer from Germany. Plans to shift to in-house design and manufacturing are set for later points in time. All software is developed in-house. FDA 510(k) Premarket Notification with an FDA Class II approval, as listed for similar radiological devices in 21CFR892 will be needed. Development of the first prototype is scheduled for completion mid 2021, with projected market entry by 2027

Future Design Considerations

The design above is not the market ready product, with the sensor wand undergoing modifications for a patent draft. Additionally, Ossible's cloud-based services are in the recursive planning and early development stages, with the following planned:

  • Machine learning platform for optimization of software accuracy and speed
  • Cloud based storage space
  • Electronic Health Record Easy Export Platform

The current situation of the SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic has prompted a temporary shift of research & development efforts towards helping flatten the curve, we invite you to follow our social media for any updates regarding these efforts and new milestones in the development of Ossible Mk. 1
